to who ever wrote this past review about that kid that died in cancun, he didn't have an illness..he was perfectly fine and healthy. the hotel did not try to help him at all..he did not fall and hit his head..all of mexico is not to blame, that i agree with, but as for this hotel, they are to blame.

This review is so misleading. Read the horror stories here: http://www.travelpost.com/hotels/Oasis_ Cancun/h70540.
It disgusts me that blame is being placed on Nolan when the hotel staff was being neglectful.
From what I've seen, the staff is rude, the place is disgusting, and the service is mediocre. I have no idea why anyone would stay here at all.

Do Not Stay at Oasis. They are a negligent hotel. "It Happens All The Time" Now that is SOME SLOGAN. Maybe your chances of dying here in a car accident are higher than your chances of dying in Mexico, fine, however, at least here, your family and friends would receive some answers as to what happened. Nolan was healthy and happy..he was not the type of person who should have had their life taken away at such a young age. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and kristen..as for Oasis, I will never vacation in Cancun, nor will I ever stay at your hotel or any hotel in any affiliation with you. You disgust me, as well as most of the other people i know.

As far as the hotel goes, it's not the nicest place to stay. Some of the staff was very friendly and helpful, but others were a little rude. Our air conditioning wasn't working in our room and there wasn't an iron or hair drier either. There are bars located everywhere, so it wasn't hard to get a drink anytime of the day. The waves at the beach were pretty strong, so if you're not a strong swimmer you should stick to the pool. The life guards on the beach seemed pretty attentive. I wandered into the water away from the crowd and almost instantly a life guard came to me to move me inward towards the crowd. There was also a life guard in the water on a jet ski just in case someone got swept out too far.
I didn't hear about anyone drowning at the Oasis, but I heard four kids getting drunk at night and drowning at the beach a little further away. The pool and beaches were off limits at night, so they're the ones to blame. If you just use common sense, everything should be fine.
I would definately go back to Mexico, but I would probably stay at a different hotel.

This hotel was horrible!! We had 24 hr construction outside our window, NO hot water, leaking ceiling in our bathroom, puddles in the hallways that weren't being taken care of, a clogged drain in our tub, not even a clock in the room!. The staff were ok to us, but i heard of other people who were having nightmare vacations down there!

We are a couple in our mid 40's. We've stayed at the Oasis Cancun 3 years ago. The hotel is beautiful, with marble and travertine showers. The rooms were spacious and clean. The buffets were good, but avoid a la carte no variety and the service takes too long. La Isla is about a 30 mins walk and if you need a pharmacy, its across the street. We are going there again Feb 20th, but will definately go eat at the Oasis Playa in which the food we rated was a 5*. we also took the bus to the Oasis Viva, where the water is calm and the food is good (not alot of variety). But beware if you visit the Oasis Viva there is alot of broken glass at shore and in the water(bring water shoes). I would stay at any of the Oasis anytime....

We went to the Oasis Cancun on Feb 8, 2007. We have been to Cancun before but never stayed at this hotel. Our room was flooded and the mattress was even wet. We complained enough to get moved to another room. This room was dry but we had no electricity other than lights. After several complaints we finally just gave up so we could enjoy the sun. The food was just ok. When we went to check out there was a charge for a donation to mexican children. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. All floors were wet and many people were upset. I also agree that medical coverage is lacking.
