Cancun has a number of hotels, some good and some bad, so it's important to
spend time researching which hotel you will be staying at.
Make sure you choose a 'spring-breaker'-friendly hotel. There are some hotels which are geared
towards an older-crowd, and do not welcome loud, drunken students. On the other hand, there
are some hotels which enjoy spring-breakers, and cater to them. It's pretty common for these
latter hotels to offer activities during the day (typically involving alcohol), and
transportation to clubs at night. Below is a list of hotels that are known to be
spring-breaker friendly.
Price is obviously going to be a factor for any student who wants to party in
Cancun during Spring Break, and unfortunately the prices are usually jacked up
during this time period, so be ready to spend a little extra. It's important to note that you
will most likely be spending most afternoons at your hotel, so don't be too cheap.
I suggest you pay the extra and book with a hotel that has nice beachfront property, pools, etc.
On the topic of price, go with a hotel that offers all-inclusive!. Yes, it costs extra,
but it makes life much easier. With all-inclusive, you can grab as much food and alcohol as you want,
any time of day. Without all-inclusive, you will be wasting precious partying time commuting to
various restaurants to eat, and worrying about how much alcohol you have left.
Location of your hotel is also key. The farther away from downtown Cancun, where all of the nightlife
is, the longer the drunken bus ride home is. This is not a good thing! If you plan on spending your
days on the beach, look for a hotel that is situated on the Caribbean side (as opposed to the Gulf of Mexico
side).
